Due to the lawsuit of the state of California to Activision Blizzard, according to which its employees are subjected to sexual harassment within its offices, many of the employees involved in the scandal have left the company, either by their own will or by force. One of them has been Jesse McCree, a head of level design within the company, who would have participated in the infamous “Cosby suit.”
Yesterday, Blizzard announced via Twitter that Overwatch’s character McCree will change his name. Although they do not specify the reason for this change, it is quite evident that the reason is McCree’s departure from the company, due to the scandal.

“We have built the Overwatch universe around the idea that inclusivity, equality and hope are the building blocks of a better future. They are central pillars of the game and the Overwatch team.
As we continue to discuss how we can best hold fast to our values and to demonstrate our commitment to creating a universe in video game that reflects them, we believe it is necessary to change the name of the hero currently known as McCree to one that represents better what Overwatch represents. “
