Opportunities for the technological digitization of the manufacturing industry
That is why some of the opportunities that technological digitization offers to the manufacturing industry must be known, as indicated by the study “Strategies for Digital Transformation in Manufacturing Companies”, developed by getacin which some of the challenges faced by these productive sectors in Latin America are recognized, towards a solid culture of digitization.
It should be noted that the manufacturing sector represents at least 10 percent of the jobs generated in Latin America, which has a growth rate of at least 4 percent in recent years, therefore the study recognizes that managers, They have been forced to integrate into the digital revolution, which is directly affecting companies, so the opportunities for digitization in the industry must be undertaken as soon as possible, since late changes towards a culture of transformation digital can directly impact business results.
“In simple terms, digitalization can be seen as an increase in the generation, analysis and use of data to, on the one hand, increase the internal efficiency of the company and, on the other hand, to grow the company, adding value. for customers through the change from analogue to digital formats”, the specialists point out.
For this reason, digitalization has the potential to maximize the development of products of manufacturing companies, since these companies share data not only within the company, but also across borders with suppliers and customers, an aspect for which various companies they are adapting their vendor interface and sticking to a single digital procurement channel by using machine learning algorithms.
Change that allows companies and their suppliers to have better control over materials and components, as well as reduce inventories. Some companies are integrated with the production systems of their clients, aspects for which Getac points out five trends that will be key in the region, to lead a digital transformation derived from a real effort by senior management:

Product development: Performance and quality, optimization in manufacturing and minimizing the number of breakdowns and stoppages, all through smarter manufacturing processes through the use of digital technologies, as well as more and better data.
Blockchain in supply chains: It will centralize all the information for better decision-making in the sector and thus increase the competitiveness of the factories. However, its use will have regulatory and legislative implications that are still being explored and far from being resolved, especially in Latin America.
Industrial Security: All this industrial revolution that digitization has brought about at an accelerated pace requires significant investment both in personal protective equipment and in good safety practices, detailed risk studies, and adequate and safe equipment.
