What is there to do?
According to the call, the volunteer program includes a wide range of missions. “All of them are essential for the proper functioning of the Games.” Among them are:
Support quality of experience for all gaming stakeholders
Here, volunteers are the first point of contact with the different stakeholders of the Games, among their activities are:
- Welcome people from all over the world, from stations and airports to different places (competition, training, Athletes’ Village, press center, among others).
- Provide guidance and support at the venues (guide spectators to the stands).
- Provide information in case of difficulties or direct people to the correct contacts.
- Report on various programs: sports and cultural information, key moments of the Games.
- Transport Games stakeholders between venues in minibuses or cars.
- Assisting Medical Staff: For volunteers with a medical degree.
Sports performance support
In this area, the volunteers ensure that all the conditions are in place for sporting achievements and an exceptional show. According to the Paris 2024 portal, these are some of its functions:
- Participate at competition or training venues to support sporting achievements: pick up tennis balls, set up starting blocks.
- Enter sports information about times, classifications, statistics.
- Assist athletes in their reserved spaces in competition and training venues, supporting them in relation to anti-doping tests.
- Assist the medical personnel of the clinical police of the Villa de los Athletes or of the competition and training venues.
Ensuring the organization is fluid and runs smoothly
“Volunteers who like the operational aspects will enjoy these missions, which are vital to facilitating the work of every Games stakeholder and ensuring that not even the smallest detail interrupts the organization of the biggest sporting event on the planet.” Among its tasks are the following:
- Get involved in the accreditation process to allow certain Games players (journalists, delegations, etc.) access to the reserved areas: processing of applications, taking photos, printing and distribution of accreditation cards.
- Distribute useful equipment to those interested in the Games: radios, headphones, uniforms.
- Assembly and installation of small communication equipment (retractable banners, panels, etc.); making sure they are not damaged, reporting any instances where they need to be replaced.
