With the intention of avoiding some type of harassment in its underage users and especially in adolescents, Snapchat recently presented its first parental control tool called Family Centerdesigned to help parents keep their children safe on the Internet.
With this system, it will be guaranteed to provide more information on who the children communicate with in the messaging application and social network, with the particular condition that they will not be able to access the content of said conversations.
Since last year, 2021, there have been rumors about the possibility of developing new tools for parents to allow their children to have access to the technological world, but with due monitoring and security measures that protect them from possible psychological attacks.
Family Center
The company reported that the program is designed to replicate the way parents interact with their children in the real world, where parents often know who their children’s friends are, but do not listen to their private conversations. The feature is only available to teens between the ages of 13 and 18, as the app is not intended to be used by younger users.
Parents will have to install the Snapchat application on their devices and then proceed to link it with their children’s electronic device and everything would take place through an invitation process between those involved. With everything set up, guardians will be able to see the accounts your child had conversations with in the app in the last seven days, but not the content of those messages.
If an anomaly is found in the list of friends, possible abuses can be reported to the Snapchat security team so that they can carry out the respective review required by the specialists.
