Nope: director Jodan Peele launches a new website to promote the film and give some plot clues

Ever since the first glimpse of this thriller came out, there have been many questions about the plot and whatever is behind that cloud, which we saw in both the trailer and the poster. To prepare for the premiere, peele launched a website that could either confuse us more or clarify some things.

Like many suspense, mystery or horror movies, doubts or cryptic clues are essential. This seems to be very clear to the director Jordan Peel, since in the new website that he opened, called Jupiter’s Claim, there are games and details that seem to be important for nope.

The message continues: “¡Jupiter’s Claim™ is the best California Gold Rush theme park in the Santa Clarita/Lancaster area! Perfect for family outings, school groups, and birthday parties! Saddle up, pan for gold and earn my patented Jangle ® and remember, you get what you get and don’t get mad!”.

The page has different tabs to investigate, from attractions including a bank, theater, and general store, to a call Star Lasso, Winking’ Well and a mail to send postcards. At the moment only one game is available to win”Jupe Jangles”which are coins that will be used in other sections.

However, in addition to occasionally changing the music, the site also darkens and modifies the texts that appear on the screen. For example, on the page of Winking’ Well initially we read that it says: “As above, so below here in ‘Winkin’ Well’ from Jupiter’s Claim. You’ll want to look your best as you stare into the void and spend your hard-earned Jangle® creating a photographic document of your beautiful prospecting lifestyle. Don’t forget to wink at those flashes while you smile to the past”.

When the page goes dark, the message changes to read: “Look down into the well. Look up to the heavens above. Anything you wish for won’t change a thing. It cannot be undone. It cannot be invisible. If you fear the darkness that is coming, look down the well and pray that you are forgiven.”.

Jupiter’s Claim it is full of cryptic messages. Another one that we can see appears in the part of the Bank. At one point he explains what a jangle is and how to play to win these coins, while moments later the message changes to say: “It’s the money you spend here to make the experience more fun, but don’t be fooled. Our currency pushes the lie forward. Precipitate fears of the unknown. You can spend money here. You can continue this cycle of terror. But know this, you have been warned.
