It seems that the existence and short-term development of the successor to the switcha console that is popularly and provisionally known as the Nintendo Switch Pro. And the best news is that it will continue to run with components developed by NVIDIA.
All this would have been discovered from a leak of series origin. Where the information was not found and spread thanks to a hack, as happened with the Grand Theft Auto VI.
But the origin of everything would have been an innocent update of the console’s Linux kernel, where, inadvertently, in the middle of all that code, it is revealed that there will be a new Switch with a new NVIDIA processor.
This represents something important, since Nintendo has not said a single word to confirm this situation, but the code does not lie.
The Nintendo Switch Pro is coming
It is a topic that we have already talked about more than once but that continues to be unavoidable to address every time we look at the current panorama of the video game industry.
Sony and Microsoft are in a hardware fight that ended up escalating into a takeover fight after coming across very powerful systems but with a short and not-so-attractive catalog.
While the Nintendo Switch lacks the minimum power required in the market today. Its most recent hardware update finally integrated some necessary supports in the graphic section.
But in the end it is not something that could be considered new generation. That is why the leaking of the Linux kernel code through lore.kernel.org It represents great news, since there are details of a new NVIDIA processor for what would invariably be a new Switch.
As marked in the leak, the CPU of the new Nintendo console would have 8 cores grouped in a single cluster.
As we all remember, when this console was initially released, a modified version of the Tegra T210 chip was integrated with eight separate cores in two clusters.
Now, the obvious guess, due to the detail of the eight cores in a single group, makes us suppose that NVIDIA would be working on a modified version of its A78C processor.
As far as is known, this component would have an L3 cache of up to 8 MB and could exceed 2.42 GHz speed. Making it possible for Switch games to finally support 4K resolution.
But it will be necessary to wait to have a minimum certainty.
