It was recently revealed that Nintendo has obtained a technological patent that allows it to remotely detect any change in the code of one of its games and thus identify users with the intention of cheating.
So the next target is those users, according to the latest technology recorded in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, with which the Japanese video game company in general is specifically concerned with the suppression of piracy on its platforms and the protection of its content.
Given this news, the patent that the video game giant is working on hopes to detect any change in the code of one of its games, such as a technology that scans the code of a program and detects players who are using modified versions of it.
They explain that the technology automatically generates several “validation schemes that can be hosted on your servers”.
“Its purpose is to perform remote testing of programs running on the user’s device in search of code reuse techniques,” say experts.
In addition, this technology can determine if the user has modified the program and then close your game session.
According to the Japanese company, this improves security and will reduce the need to issue multiple patches, improving the overall broadband communication of the system.
“These types of tools are particularly useful for tracking players of multiplayer titles with a competitive component,” says the company.
As Nintendo also highlighted that in this type of game, users can “modify the software in a way that allows them to have an advantage over other players on different platforms throughout a multiplayer title.”
“These unfair advantages lead to a much less satisfying game for the user and, therefore, affect both the experience and the user’s interaction with the game. In addition, such changes will create a certain security risk in the system”, they add.
