The popular online platform to contribute to the financing of ideas, Kickstarter, has seen all kinds of projects. From absurd articles to original and passionate projects that get the attention of the community gamer. This news is about one of those passionate projects that, unfortunately, has been seen abruptly canceled for legal matters related to the IPs that appear in it.
Hand-Drawn Game Guides Kickstarter Canceled by Nintendo
Hand-Drawn Game Guides was a Kickstarter project that offered all contributors fully illustrated guides to the NES classics The legend of zelda, Against, Metroid and Ninja gaiden. Phillip Summers was the artist in charge of said project, whose spectacular drawings, available on his social networks and on the Kickstarter page of Hand-Drawn Game Guides, they were going to delight the most nostalgic.
Unfortunately, on September 5, 2021, Phillip Summers posted a tweet basically announcing that Nintendo had denounced his project and that he should withdraw it. According to the artist, ** this conclusion was to be expected **, although it shows some frustration at how quickly the whole situation has developed.
I took a picture of this before I turned it off. Pretty freaking amazing. I still might celebrate tonight. Haha. pic.twitter.com/NCpn3HnTJE

Everything seems to indicate that the project has been canceled indefinitely, although for now Phillip does not want to make a final statement about the future of it. The Kickstarter has been canceled after having gathered more than $ 300,000.
Had they been distributed, these guides would have been a must-have on the shelves of veteran fans and nintenderos. However, something that this sector of the community should recognize are the rigid standards which follows the big N when it comes to protecting your IPs against copyright attacks. In some cases the philosophy behind their interventions can be understood, but the fact that these guides will not be distributed makes us question whether they have really made the right decision.
