Super Mario World (SMW) is one of the most acclaimed video games in the history of the industry, a platform classic developed and published by Nintendodirect to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), which brought joy to homes around the world in the early 1990s.
As many players will remember, the plot focuses on the quest that Mario and Luigi must undertake to save Dinosaur Land and rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of Bowser, the main antagonist of the series.
However, although it was a very popular game, selling close to 20 million copies and being recognized by the company as the seventh best video game of all time among 100 titles, his fame hides some secrets, like that of a character who never appeared.
Who is Mr One?
According to a report published on the website of Go NintendoSuper Mario World development files leaked and show a severed asset called “Mr. OneCharacter”referring to a character named Mr. One.
This cut character is just one of many secrets surrounding the development of SMW, which over 30 years after its release has been the subject of many other data-driven discoveries, leaks, and more.
It is impossible to know if the leak was on purpose or not, but what we can confirm is that, at some point in its creation, Super Mario World had this little character called Mr. One. His name comes from his size, since as you can see it is a small creature and it only fits in a single 8×8 pixel mosai.
Perhaps his revelation is about some plan that Nintendo manages to bring Mr. One to life. For now, everything seems to indicate that it was simply part of the video game development tests.
