Nintendo is going through one of its best moments in terms of popularity thanks to the Switch and the relative healthy condition of its most representative franchises.
Contrary to what we may see with Halo and Microsoft On the Xbox, the Japanese firm’s handheld console and the plumber Mario remain in good shape and any launch related to this character automatically generates great expectations.
But perhaps the theme that has generated the greatest expectation in recent times is the animated Super Mario Bros. movie starring neither more nor less than Chris Prattone of the most popular actors in Hollywood today.
For a few weeks it has been known that the official trailer for the feature film would be released on October 6, but what no one expected is that the company would make one of its traditional Nintendo Directs, dedicated solely and exclusively to this film and its advance.
Nintendo Direct and the Super Mario Bros. movie here’s what we know
The New York Comic Con at the time announced everything on its social networks under the following text: “Join us on October 6 at 4 pm ET (Eastern Time in the United States) for the premiere of the trailer for the next movie. Super Mario Bros, from Nintendo and Illumination, which will be released on April 7, 2023.
And now, this October 3, 2022, the Super Mario Bros. movie activated its official Twitter account with the sole purpose of announcing that the official trailer will be released on just that date, but now everything will be the same within the framework of a Nintendo Direct conference:
The event will start this October 6 at 1:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) so it would have the following start-up time distribution in different countries:
- Argentina: at 5:05 p.m.
- Brazil: at 7:05 p.m.
- Chile: at 5:05 p.m.
- Colombia: at 3:05 p.m.
- United States (PT): at 1:00 p.m.
- United States (Washington DC): at 4:05 p.m.
- Mexico: at 3:05 p.m.
- Peru: at 3:05 p.m.
- Venezuela: at 4:05 p.m.
The name of the official Twitter account increases the confusion around the tape and its official title. That in the microblogging social network it is called Super Mario Movie, while the banners of the Nintendo Direct itself indicate that it would be named The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
The film is produced by Universal Pictures and Nintendo. It features an interesting cast of characters and actors: Mario (Chris Pratt), Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Luigi (Charlie Day), Bowser (Jack Black), Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen ) and Cranky Kong (Fred Armisen).
The film is being produced by Illumination Studio’s Chris Meledandri and Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!) and with The LEGO Movie 2 screenwriter.
The film opens on April 7, 2023 in the United States.
