According to Survey Monkey, 44 percent of Consumers said they care much more about environmental issues today than they did a year ago. In addition, in the last year, almost 8 out of 10 consumers have made purchasing decisions based on their values.
The same source highlighted that today’s consumers are very aware of brands that care about sustainability. Survey respondents ranked Burt’s Bees, TOMS and Patagonia as the top 3 brands that take positive action to protect the environment.
Nike the most sustainable sports brand?
Brand Finance’s Global 500 Sustainability Perceptions 2023 ranking revealed that Nike is the first most sustainable brand.
The research, which shows how brands are perceived as more sustainable by consumers, was published in collaboration with the International Advertising Association (AIP), and places the American sports brand in position number 54 with a value of 2 thousand 265 million dollars.
“With this new tool, brands can establish their sustainability strategies based on the financial value they provide,” said Pilar Alonso Ulloa, CEO of Brand Finance Iberia and South America.
Sports companies such as Decathlon, Lulemon, Puma and JD Sports also appear on the list. However, all the mentioned brands are well below Nike in the ranking and with a much lower value than the North American giant.
For its part, the Global 500 2023 ranking by Brand Finance places Nike as the most valued brand in sport.
This research places it in the first place among sports brands, with a value of 31 thousand 307 million dollars.
In this global sustainability ranking, the e-commerce company Amazon leads with a perception value of 19.9 billion dollars. Tesla, with a valuation of $17.8 billion, is in second place, followed by Apple with $14.65 billion and Google with $14.6 billion.
And so, how consumers’ understanding of sustainability practices is constantly changing, challenging consumer brands to keep up.
