Nicola Baldan will contest his second event as in the WTCR 2021 in Adria, track on which the Italian has grown sportingly. The transalpine pilot will get at the controls of one of the Hyundai Elantra N TCR of the Target Competition team after the departure of the championship team after the hasty end of the Bäckman brothers’ project. The 2017 TCR Italia winner made his series debut with a ‘wild card’ in Budapest, also from the hand of Hyundai’s TCR and the Target Competition team. Nevertheless, this time he will use one of the team’s full season tickets.
This means that Nicola Baldan will be able to score points and it will not be harmed by the weight of 10 extra kilos that the vehicles that compete as ‘wild card’ carry as compensation with the regular participants. This circumstance offers a new perspective to Baldan. once you get in the Target Competition Hyundai Elantra N TCR, mostly in a circuit of Adria that you know like the back of your handEven if he has not ridden on the extended version of the track, which has been the result of the extension works that have been carried out on the track in recent months.
Regarding his presence in Adria, the Italian Nicola Baldan has assured: «I am excited to have another option to compete in the WTCR. In Hungary it was everything for me. I have a little more experience now, although it will still be challenging. Adria is my home track, the track I grew up on. I had several victories on the old track, but I haven’t raced there since 2017. I saw the new track and it looks more difficult. I am curious about some sections. Without ballast, on my home court, I have to demand more of myself. I don’t know what to expect due to the high level of the series, but I hope I can get some point».
