“These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commanded, the first in the history of the Star Trek franchise. But over the course of their adventures together, they will each learn about Starfleet and the ideals it stands for.”
To which Alex Kurtzman, executive producer of the series added: “Star Trek is about a lot of things that are formative: the idea that the best of us will emerge in the future, the idea that our best angels will take us to a hopeful place where all the things that divide us now are gone, in the rearview mirror. My favorite thing about Star Trek is that every generation that encounters it keeps encountering that message over and over again.”
