A new trailer for the upcoming horror game has been released The Fridge is Red, a game that includes various horror episodes inspired by the PS1 era and with an aspect ratio of 4:3. The trailer shows scenes from various episodes with bloody hallways, blizzard adventures, creepy kids, and of course, a red refrigerator.
With the trailer, the developer 5WORD Team has announced the release date of the game. A young woman, Lori, has disappeared after a tragic loss in the family. In the game, the player takes on the role of Frank, Lori’s father, who is trying to get his daughter back from him. However, all is not well for him, as he believes that the only thing he can do is sit on a chair and keep looking at the red refrigerator in the basement, or something bad is going to happen.
The game sends players venturing into 90s horror-inspired pixelated worlds, featuring psychological fear in several distinct episodes. It’s an anthology series in a horror game with interesting themes and experimental gameplay, kind of an old school horror game version of Black Mirror.
The trailer includes short clips of different scenes that don’t seem to follow the order of the game’s timeline. It begins in a basement with a blizzard knocking open windows and a walk through the blizzard, followed by a walk through a semi desolate office building with strange warehouses and eyes peering through elevator buttons, and bloodied hallways of what looks like a school.
Another scene is a creepy church with zombie-like humanoids staring at the player, which could be related to a later scene with a pile of corpses under what looks like a church bell. Although the sound of the game is limited in the trailer, with only an occasional sound effect, both the music and the few sound effects that are heard fit with the 90s soundscape of a horror game.
The Fridge is Red will be available on PC on September 27.
