Currently, the switch It has three different models. In addition to the normal version of the console, we have a Lite edition, which eliminates the possibility of connecting the hardware to the television, as well as an OLED version, which, as the name implies, has an OLED screen. Now, it seems that the Japanese company could well deliver a fourth model at some point in this fiscal year.
Following Nintendo’s quarterly report outlining its earnings and future plans, company president Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about the possibility of seeing a new Switch model. Instead of offering a clear answer, the manager refused to answer. According to Takashi Mochizuki, a journalist from Bloomberg, when Furukawa was questioned on the same issue two years ago, when there was no new version of the platform, the manager was honest with the company’s plans.
“Nintendo President Furukawa declined to comment today when asked if he plans to launch new Switch hardware this fiscal year. Two years ago, when he didn’t release a Switch hardware, he clearly said there won’t be.”

In this way, it is speculated that Nintendo could well be working on a new model for the Switch, which would be available before March 31, 2023. Along with this, this version could well increase the number of consoles sold. During the past fiscal year a decline in sales was reported, and the expectations of the Big N have been reduced from 21.7 million, to only 21 million.
Along with this, we must not forget that several rumors have pointed to the existence of a Switch Pro for years. Considering that the console is halfway through its life, a substantial update could well be what it takes to boost sales considerably. We can only wait and see what Nintendo plans for the future.
On related topics, Nintendo has launched a new subscription service in Japan. Similarly, the document shows the salaries of the company’s directors.
Editor’s note:
It would not be unreasonable to think that a new model of the Switch is on the way. However, it’s too early for something like that. Not even a year has passed since the launch of OLED. If the Switch Pro is real, it could well be available until the next fiscal year, although the possibility of seeing it between 2022 and 2023 is not ruled out.
