A new Lord of the Rings game has been announced, and it’s being made in collaboration with Weta Workshop, the visual effects company that has produced the graphics for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies, as well as the upcoming The Rings of Power television series. There are several Lord of the Rings video games in the works, such as The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, or the recently announced Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
Weta Workshop is best known for its contributions to films and television series based on the world of Middle-earth, but the company also has a video game division, as well as making collectibles and board games. From this division we will get the new Lord of the Rings game. On the other hand, so is the Teaser of The Lord of the Rings game in Unreal Engine 5 created by a fan.
We’re thrilled to announce that we have partnered with @WetaWorkshop to publish a new game set in the literary Middle-earth universe of JRR Tolkien. We look forward to sharing more about the project in the future! pic.twitter.com/z9HxvXe7Da

New Lord of the Rings game announced
Weta Workshop is going to work on a Lord of the Rings video game, but not necessarily based on the movies. The official Twitter page of Private Division has announced that it will publish a new Lord of the Rings game which is being done in collaboration with Weta Workshop. Notably, the message describes the game as being set in JRR Tolkien’s “literary universe of Middle-earth,” rather than mentioning the movies.

The most recent game published by Private Division was OlliOlli World on February 8th, but it’s about to publish Rollerdome on August 16th, and it also published the PlayStation and Xbox versions of Hades.
