Since its presentation, we all knew that the Cybertruck, Tesla’s pickup, was going to undergo certain changes before reaching the market. Although the company’s new electric has once again suffered a delay, this weekend leaked new images of the car that anticipate those changes.
Although it is not clear whether They will be the last modifications before it begins to be delivered to your customers., the company continues to refine the design. These are not big changes that greatly modify the very particular style of Cybertruck. Rather minor adjustments that surely have a lot to do with the simplification of production and its adaptation for homologation.
In this sense, the entire design of the original Cybertruck prototype is maintained, with its characteristic big side panels, sharp angles and a huge windshield. In the original model there were no windshield wipers or side mirrors, something normal in prototypes not intended for production. The absence of windshield wipers has always pointed to the inclusion of a laser system, an extreme that has never been confirmed.
The new images include both, something closer to the reality with which the car ends up reaching the market. In this way, the classic side mirrors have now been included, but with a very interesting option. These are very easy to remove since the company’s intention is that these are not used in favor of the camera and sensor system. However, as long as the regulations make them mandatory, the Cybertruck will include them.
Changes to the Cybertruck to comply with homologation
On the other hand, the new images of the Cybertruck they already include a huge windshield wiper on their giant front moon, which covers the entire surface and is housed on the driver’s side. This huge windshield wiper would complement that rumored laser/electromagnetic cleaning system, but again it’s an unconfirmed extreme.
The wheels have also been modified. The prototype included a huge plastic cover on the wheels to improve aerodynamics and give it that aggressive touch, something that has disappeared in the new images.
Another thing that has changed in this new model is the door handles. In previous iterations, the Cybertruck had flat door handles, similar to those of the original Model S. However, Tesla confirmed that the production version will not have door handles. It will be the car that will recognize the driver when he approaches and will open the door for him.
There are no more big changes. While it may be an effect of the pictures, it appears that the top edge of the headlights has been retracted slightly, and the plastic bumper underneath has been made larger (including a larger air intake) and sticks out a bit more. A change without a doubt focused comply with pedestrian safety regulationsbut again unconfirmed.
