The new generation of Microsoft consoles landed on the market during the past month of November 2020, with both Series X and Series S being a relentless success in these practically two years of life. Without a doubt, everything is going smoothly for those from Redmond, who have a very exciting future ahead of them, thanks to the number of exclusive games that are in development and everything that is to come to Xbox and Game Pass from from Activision, Bethesda, many other Xbox and third-party studios.
Although, for a little over a year, there have been rumors of the possibility of a portable Xbox Series, and even fans have been recreating what it could look like. After xCloud was added to the Steam Deck, new rumors began to surface that Project Edinburgh could be Xbox’s handheld consolewhich have now been enhanced thanks to new statements by Jez Corden.
New clues point to a portable Xbox Series
Through the podcast Rand to Thor 19, Jez Corden has commented that he does believe Microsoft has prototyped a portable Xbox Series and they have explored the form factor internally. The name of this Xbox portable console would be Xbox Series Y, it would be launched on the market in 2-3 years at retail and the reason for the creation of this is because the screen of the phones is too small.
This is the portable Xbox Series Z created by a fan
The Nintendo Switch has proven to be a pretty good size, so Xbox needs to do something quite similar, but something cheaper, between 150 and 250 euros, with detachable controls and based on the cloud, allowing us to enjoy digital games both inside and outside GamePass. We add that Insipid Ghost, another known user, has revealed that Microsoft is working on an Xbox portable and has even already seen a prototype. If Xbox launches a portable console it would be a hoot and would make the value of the brand much greater.
