Netflix and Mattel are not letting us rest with their Masters of the Universe franchise and just a couple of months after we have been able to see ‘Revelation’, will arrive on September 16 ‘He-Man and the Masters of the Universe’, the new CGI animated series that will tell the adventures of Adam and the rest of the warriors on their mission to save Eternia.
Be careful, unlike the Kevin Smith series, which continues what we saw in the eighties, this time we find a complete reboot of the original series. The usual characters and themes, with some changes here and there and a much more futuristic aesthetic with a 3D animation.
Brian Q. Miller (‘Smallville’) is the showrunner of this new series created by Rob David. In the trailer we can see young Adam taking the mythical sword for the first time. Before he can get used to his new abilities, the great threat of Skeletor will arrive, determined to conquer Castle Grayskull as the culmination of his invasion of Eternia.
House of Cool and CGCG They are in charge of animating this reboot of the Masters of the Universe and, I have to admit, that the designs are not at all to my liking. Hopefully, at least a good script will make us forget about the graphics.
In Eternia, the first planet of creation, a demonic tyrant arises: Skeletor! The villain and his sinister armies advance unstoppable, eager to conquer all the kingdoms of Eternia and claim the ultimate prize: Grayskull Castle, an ancient and mysterious fortress, even rumored to hide the greatest power in the universe. He-Man and his brave gang of rookie heroes are tasked with stopping Skeletor and bringing peace to the planet. With both sides in possession of enchanted weapons that make them Masters of the primordial powers of the universe, a battle ensues between Masters and Dark Masters; between He-Man and Skeletor. The fate of Eternia, Grayskull Castle, and all of us is at stake! In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?
