Netflix has decided to cancel the series ‘Hit & Run’ after the launch of just one season. It did not matter that it ended with a cliffhanger of those who cry out to continue the story, that it had a good critical reception and that it sneaked into the most viewed of the platform, since it simply did not compensate for the platform to continue with it.
The accounts did not come out
The truth is that the series did not even have it easy to complete the first batch of episodes, since the stoppage of the audiovisual sector caused by the coronavirus caused it to take three years to complete. In addition, it was not exactly cheap – shooting in New York and Tel Aviv is quite expensive, especially in current conditions – which has ended up weighing heavily on Netflix’s decision.
Created by Avi Issacharoff, Dawn Prestwich, Lior Raz and Nicole Yorkin, ‘Hit & Run’ told the story of a former mercenary turned tour guide who has married and lives happily with a ballerina from the United States. Everything is blown up when she is killed in Tel Aviv with the person responsible on the run.
Both Raz and Issacharoff were also behind ‘Fauda’. To give you an idea of to what extent the costs have weighed on Netflix’s decision, at the time it was clarified that making a season of ‘Hit & Run’ cost like two of ‘Fauda’ …
The leaders of the series themselves commented on several occasions during the promotional campaign of ‘Hit & Run’ that they hoped to be able to do two or three seasons, being very clear that they needed just another to close the story. Unfortunately, we will be left without that ending.
