After breaking with Facebook, Netflix drops one of its few functions that allowed the subscriber to personalize their account.
So far, the details of said break have not been revealed, although the streaming platform has limited itself to sending an email.
This decision comes a day after a Facebook campaign against TikTok was reported.
A recent break between Netflix and Facebook has led the platform to remove one of its few custom features.
Today, the leading platform in the so-called “streaming war” it still offers few customization options to its users.
An example of this can be seen in the fact that many users cannot use a personalized avatar, but rather one of the few that the platform offers. This option, however, was only available in some countries, not in Mexico.
In Spain, Netflix subscribers can use their Facebook profile picture to include it as an avatar in your platform account; however, this can no longer be the case.
And it is that today, a break between the social network and the transmission site of Los Gatos, California, has caused that function to disappear completely.
In other words, As of May this year, you will no longer be able to use your Facebook profile to personalize your Netflix account.
What happened in the relationship between Netflix and Facebook?
So far, the reasons for this break have not been disclosed, although what has been explained is that, as of May 2, subscribers who previously could make their accounts more personalized will return to the initial model.
Through an email, the streaming platform only limited itself to mentioning that “connections with Facebook profiles will no longer be supported on Netflix.”but did not explain anything else.
Now, according to what has been revealed in some media, this decision by Netflix would not be surprising if one considers that, according to its own data, this function was not used by many users, even when the function was available in few countries, more than enough reason to remove it completely.
On the other hand, it is known that the popularity of Meta’s social network has taken a nosediveespecially in recent years in which TikTok has excelled enormously.
In this context, it could happen that Netflix no longer sees Facebook as an interesting platform to create alliances. The Frances Haugen accusations published in October of last year have been a serious blow to Mark Zuckerberg and company.
Similarly, yesterday it was revealed that Facebook hired a consulting company in order to damage the reputation of TikTokas revealed Washington Posta medium that reported on the purchase of Targered Victory by Facebook, in order to share news that, in its entirety, spoke negative things about TikTok, some of them were even part of the wave of reports of Donald Trump in his days as president of the United States, when he waged a war against the ByteDance platform.
So, doing the math, Netflix’s decision occurs a day after the report published in The Washington Posta fact that endorses, once again, that the popularity of Facebook continues to decline.
