Two years after the fifth, and last moment, season of the police drama, ‘Luther’ returns. But not as we are used to, since Netflix announced this past morning that it is working on a film starring the detective played by Idris Elba.
At the moment, the details about this jump to the big screen (well, we lie, it is not great if it is not in cinema) are quite sparse. We know that with Idris Elba will be Cynthia Eviro and Andy Serkis in a story written by Neil cross, the creator of the series and whom we recently saw behind the libretto of ‘La costa de los mosquitos’.
On the other hand we know that after season 5, things are not looking good for the inspector. And beware spoilers. In the end we saw Alice left for dead / missing and our protagonist arrested. As Elba told EW after the broadcast of the last episodes:
I think John has a decision to make in jail. It is quite clear that it is going to be very difficult for him to advance as a policeman. I think it’s a great setting for a movie. The last few seasons have been like mini-movies and the cinema allows us to have more dramatic moments slightly more compressed and it is a bigger, but smaller dose of ‘Luther’. »
As you can see, Elba has been rattling the issue for a long time and it finally seems that her wishes come true thanks to Netflix, which will take over from the BBC series. Maybe this is a great opportunity to come back a bit ‘Luther’ that, at least at the noise level, has been declining season by season.
