- Arcane, the series inspired by the League of Legends video game, will be broadcast simultaneously on Twitch and Netflix
- The association talks about the great moment that both platforms are experiencing, each one in its field
A new partnership involving Riot Games, Netflix and Twitch will result in the transmission, on both platforms, of a special series for gamers.
On the one hand, we know of the great potential that Twitch has developed in the gamer market, being one of the fastest growing platforms during the pandemic and, without a doubt, one of the favorites of video game lovers.
In particular, this last year, that of the pandemic, has been one of the most fruitful for the streaming platform owned by Amazon, thanks, in large part, to the streamers who, until now, have been among the favorites of gamers, such as Rubius, Ibai Llanos, Auron Play and others more.
However, in the same way, Netflix’s intention to enter one of the most profitable markets, that of gamers, is already well known, which is why, a few weeks ago, it decided to launch a series of video games on its platform to call to a new niche of consumers and subscribers, as well as a growth strategy at a time when the platform seemed to be experiencing an extremely difficult landscape.
All this information emerges as a context for what is about to happen between Netflix and Twitch, two major streaming platforms that have decided to come together to simultaneously broadcast one of the most anticipated series by video game lovers: Arcane, inspired by League of Legends video game.
This association speaks, above all, of the great popularity that Twitch is reaching around the world, a fact that it has achieved by focusing on other content and, in turn, other markets, despite the fact that video games continue to be its strength.
Let us remember that, a few months ago, Twitch was a great success by being the streaming platform to broadcast the debut of the Argentine player, Lionel Messi, as a new player for Paris Saint-Germain Football Club.
That transmission, which was carried out through the Ibai Llanos channel, managed to conglomerate some two million users pending the meeting to see, only, just over 20 minutes of participation of the South American in Ligue 1.
Likewise, also through the channel of the streamer Ibai Llanos, the recent edition of the Copa América was broadcast, an achievement that was consolidated thanks to the Kosmos company, owned by the Barcelona player, Gerard Piqué.
All this data, of course, has also been taken into account by Netflix, a site that has been in trend for a month thanks to the enormous success of “The Squid Game”, its new series that everyone is talking about, even when more than a month has passed since its premiere.
Based on this, we are talking about two platforms that are in an important moment of growth, both seeking to expand their own boundaries and venture to generate other types of content in order to capture a new market.
In this way, a spokesperson for Riot Games stated that any Twitch streamer will be able to stream the first episode of Arcane without the need for permission from Netflix or Riot.
It should be noted that Arcane is the first series produced by Riot Games, which is, in essence, a video game developer. We will see how this association works.
