Now that it has been revealed namor is coming to movie screens with Marvel Studios, other projects are coming to light, where fans will be able to experience another possible future for the Marvel Universe in Namor: Conquered Shoresa new comic book miniseries from the writer Christopher Cantwell and the artist Pasqual Ferry.
This five-issue series is set 100 years in the future and finds a seasoned Namor still ruling atlantisExcept now global warming and an attack by the Kree have left a large part of the Earth underwater, so one of the positive aspects of these post-apocalyptic stories is that it allows the creators to make significant changes.
These changes also include some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and others like the X Menbut, for them these changes are unfortunately not for the better, since the X-Men in Namor: Conquered Shores, find many of them deceased, including Wolverines:
“In my opinion, some went to war, many went to Arakko or other newer colonies, and I feel like the Kree superweapon put Krakoa and others out of commission.”Cantwell told IGN. “The Kree would be smart enough to do that, but also smart enough to use secret channel diplomacy with a group that is increasingly seen as separate from humanity.”
“So, in my opinion, a large portion of the mutants became off-world isolationists in the ensuing conflict, while some (your favorite mutants) went to fight the Kree and died. Wolverines died. He is already. I said. Nightcrawler too. And StrongGuy.”
Even after 100 years, time has apparently been good to Namor, and that’s because of his Atlantean DNA, but in Conquered Shores you’ll find other familiar heroes still very much alive and a part of Namor’s history.
“[Namor es] older and looks experienced, but he’s fit. Atlantean DNA. He compared it to Spock in Star Trek. Vulcan life expectancy is long. Namor is also a superhuman above and beyond. So he has aged gracefully. The same is true for the handful of other superhumans out there. Luke Cage’s physiology has helped him resist, but he seems older than Namor.”
“The same goes for the Captain. Jim Hammond is an android, so he’s in good shape. And Frankenstein’s Monster…my new favorite character to write about in the Marvel universe…is a very thoughtful, stoic zombie who could theoretically live forever. Besides, Namor had to age well; he is so handsome. It’s like an Olympic swimmer is superhuman. His body is a work of athletic perfection.”
Namor: Conquered Shores #1 features Namor reminiscing about Atlantis and Old Man Steve Rogers breaking up a disagreement, remember that Namor will also appear as the antagonist of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, played by Tenoch Huerta, the movie comes out a month after Conquered Shores hits comic shops .
