We’ve known for a long time that Kohei Horikoshi is a well-known fan of the comic book sagas, his references to both Marvel and DC Comics are notorious (come on, even All Might’s design doesn’t hide his inspirations very well). However, in the last chapter of My Hero Academia, this author wanted to give Endeavor a great new power inspired by Superman. Beware, this article will contain spoilers.if you want to read it on your own, you can do it at Mangaplus by Shueisha.
With Endeavor now in the middle of a big fight against All for One, he’s pushing himself harder than ever. He is the only hope against this powerful villain, after Hawks, Tokoyami and Jirou are knocked out. This hero now acts recklessly beyond all his pain and injuries thus far, Endeavor’s fire has begun to burn like never before, endangering his own life, creating new powers never seen before.

Shout outs to Endeavor’s heat vision being literal fire from his eyes lol pic.twitter.com/K23Zz431Bq—Nick Valdez (@Valdezology) June 28, 2022
His rage is fueling all sorts of new improvised attacks as he freely casts his flame in new ways, and one of the most surprising is a literal heat vision attack much like Superman’s familiar “X-rays.” But unlike Man of Steel, Endeavor is definitely the more brutal of the two abilities, though he also endangers his own life. Let us remember that one of the reasons for having his daughter and his children was to find a hero capable of withstanding the heat of the flames without burning.
My Hero Academia chapter 357 continues Endeavor’s match against All For One and now he channels his rage into pure flames that he is letting go no matter who is around. This anger is helping this hero tap into a new kind of strength, and All For One is struggling to keep up with the pro hero as his flames begin to burn even higher and take shape in unique ways. As Endeavor drags All For One, the villain tries to grab him and steal the power from him, but he shoots fire from his eyes to completely burn the villain’s hand.
Endeavor has reached his limit in My Hero Academia
It’s a direct flame strong enough to stop All For One at the moment, but it’s also a reckless use of Endeavor’s flames, as everything is shown to damage the space around his eyes as a result. His anger is now literally burning through Endeavor’s body as he fights, and it’s the kind of strategy that might have the best chance of taking down the villain, but will likely leave him in a much worse state than when this fight started.
It’s no secret that series creator Kohei Horikoshi has been influenced by Western superhero comics, as there have been many references to the likes of Spider-Man and others in the series’ past, and it doesn’t seem to matter. As intense as the fights between the heroes and the villains are, the creator is still finding new ways to show off his knowledge of those famous comics. As Endeavor burns hotter than ever, it’s literally on fire inside and out, though it seems that All For One will take advantage of this final turn to take the victory.
