Bakugo has evolved, but My Hero Academia forgot to give it its due.
My Hero Academia has seen many of its characters evolve throughout the arcs. In a way, Kohei Horikoshi’s work has not gone through a peak in its events during the last story arc, so it could be considered that it is at a low point, compared to other anime series that have kept in suspense. to their fans thanks to unexpected twists or the introduction of characters.
However, returning to the topic of My Hero Academia’s plot development, despite the fact that the story has not presented the most important events for the heroes and the enemies, it must be recognized that there was a character that did have a remarkable growth and it is Katsuki Bakugo. But unfortunately, such a linear space in one of the battles that should have been a cornerstone for the series, somewhat overshadowed the highlights of this character; especially since what happened in the most recent chapter of My Hero Academia.
Bakugo developed a potential that was forgotten in My Hero Academia
Returning to the highlights of the series, special emphasis must be placed on the ups and downs of the Mixed Team arc that were a starting point for what would temporarily file My Hero Academia before other franchises. One of the memories that best represents this feeling of apathy among the fan community was when the training session sponsored by the teacher – who was in charge of pitting the students of Class 1-A and 1-B against each other – was completely uneventful. nothing prepared for losers. In this sense, the fact that the rivalry between the classes had no apparent meaning for the rest of the story, made this arc practically forgotten. Although, if we can rescue something from the situation, it is that the arc did bring after an important event for our character. The school festival, of course, forced Bakugo to work as a team, something that would not have been possible thanks to his personality.. So it could be considered as an advance towards the heroic career that this character is aiming for.
And, now that My Hero Academia has presented more than 100 chapters after Bakugo’s relative achievement, in episode 358, Rumi Usagiyama -who is also known as the Rabbit Hero- is in a battle alongside Bakugo and is surprised by the reaction of the indifferent student, once he charges at his adversary, the hybrid Shigaraki All For One and says: “We have to destroy his real body! All of us, together!”. Of course, Mirko can’t believe that Bakugo has included his companions in the battle cry, while deliberately goading them into teamwork. His answer was clear: “What? As a team?!”.
With that said, we refer back to the Joint Team arc, which was the one that allowed Bakugo to fully open up to go toe-to-toe with his teammates in the toughest of battles. So, in effect, it’s a new response that he wouldn’t have had before, no matter the situation. Therefore, Bakugo’s behavior at this time, as you can see, has a true heroic perspective: to have the support of his companions while there is a threat involved and to put pride aside.
Likewise, the last story arc has brought the expected confrontation between All For One and Endeavor, which tests what Bakugo has learned after so long. Fans are likely to attribute this to an overall growth to match the situation, however, while training hasn’t been relevant enough to the My Hero Academia story in the past, it has to be admitted that his behavior is an extension. of the knowledge acquired in said practice.
Unfortunately, the series has made its characters a disposable temporality, since, after having made small achievements or great deeds, the story continues without taking importance. So, in this particular case, Bakugo’s potential has been classified as one more action within its environment, instead of giving more weight to its growth. And, on the contrary, My Hero Academia makes its fans understand that after taking that step, it has returned to what it was before. Especially in a dialogue that refers to him as “I’ve heard that Bakugo has changed, but I’ve never believed it” reaffirms it.
The difference in their behavior has been forgotten. What is a fact is that My Hero Academia would have to reconsider the future for Katsuki Bakugo, since this was a great opportunity to add some contrast to his characterization and give rise to other exploits between him and his companions.
