Motorola has launched a new direct phone to its Moto G series, and it has also offered more than interesting power at a fairly adjusted price with the incentive of being a 5G phone. Cheap 5G models are not in abundance, so this new Moto G 5G Plus will be a tough opponent to beat but we have found some contenders.
Models from the Xiaomi, OPPO, Huawei and TCL catalogs come out to show that they can fight in the line of cheap 5G phones, and each has its own weapons. Different bets in terms of camera, faster fast loads or the advantage of having Google services. Let’s see what each model contributes and each user decides which phone is the most suitable for their needs.
At their posts, begins “The battle of the screens”
Within the range of mobiles that we bring to this comparison, the diagonals are quite similar. Agree that we have 6.7 inches on the Moto G 5G Plus and 6.4 inches on the OPPO, but the difference is minimal. Especially considering that they all offer FullHD + in different ratios and formats. A little advantage would have the AMOLED panels against the normal ones, perhaps, in terms of brightness and representation of blacks.
The most noticeable difference is found in the refreshment of the panel, and this time it is Motorola that takes the cat to the water. With its 90Hz refresh rate, the Moto G 5G Plus screen is the one that promises the most, especially if we are looking for fluency when running games on the phone. In the absence of seeing how these 90Hz will affect autonomy, for the moment we have a leader in the competition.
The most powerful bet is that of Motorola, with a 90Hz gaming panel
And speaking of autonomy, we also find the Moto G 5G Plus at the forefront in terms of internal battery capacity. Its 5,000 mAh put it to the front although the 40W of fast charge of the Huawei P40 Lite are quite tempting when it comes to leaving the phone connected and returning in a few minutes to get it. But in general, all mobiles move between 4,000 and 5,000 mAh, and they are good figures.
We can close this section talking about connectivity, although again we ran into a fairly even battle. Logically, all the models compared offer 5G and all in Dual mode, with differences that harm the TCL in terms of WiFi and Bluetooth speed, and some advantage for a Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite that also offers infrared connectivity, something that does not seem so useful until you use it.
Even powers with a small step in the Huawei
Looking at the brains chosen for the configurations, we can see the preeminence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765, which appears a couple of times in its ‘gaming’ version, that of the Snapdragon 765G. We can say that they all perform similar power although the Kirin 820 of the Huawei P40 Lite is inferior to the others. It is not an insurmountable step, but it is certainly the brain capable of developing less power than compared.
Speaking of memories, we have two clear winners. The first, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite 5G that leaves us a superior version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage in exchange for paying more for it, although we did not find it in Spain. In second place, and yes for sale, the OPPO Find X2 Lite that comes with 8GB and 128GB as the only option, and superior to the rest of the basic ones. Difficult choice, of course, but everything will depend on how much internal space we are going to need because not all models offer microSD to expand the set.
The “loser” here is Huawei with a less powerful processor and without Google services to accompany its Android 10
As for operating systems, they all offer Android 10 with different aspects thanks to their different layers. We have MIUI, EMUI, TCL UI or ColorOS among them, and only one of them loses in a sensible way, the EMUI of the Huawei P40 Lite. The reason? The absence of Google services makes the phone play at a disadvantage in the West, although this is not a problem in your own country.
Present your sensors, it’s time to compare the photographic power
Regardless of the size of the sensors themselves, which tend to be fairly even, there is no doubt that the bet of all the phones compared is essentially the same. We have a 48 or 64-megapixel main sensor, one with a super wide-angle lens, one with a macro lens, and one last sensor for depth readings. The only jarring note is that of the OPPO Find X2 Lite, which opts for a black-and-white sensor instead of the macro lens. More light, less versatility.
The bet in all is almost identical in the rear, but Motorola offers dual front camera
But if we turn the phone, things change and here the last one to arrive, the Moto G 5G Plus, plays with an advantage. Mainly because onboard the phone we find two cameras for selfies instead of one. The Moto’s bet is that of the main camera and another with a super wide-angle lens, allowing us to get away from the phone virtually when it comes to photographing ourselves. Something very useful, for example, to show more of the landscape behind us, or for group selfies.
As we have seen, the bets of the different terminals are similar and only some details tip the balance to one side or the other. Here what will send, surely, will be the price and the pan for the handle, at least for now, has the Huawei P40 Lite that is at 259 euros on Amazon. Behind him, both Xiaomi and Motorola. The two move in the waters of 350 euros, soaring the other compared models somewhat more. But there are always offers and who knows, any of them can end up in your pocket. The decision is yours.
