Dr. Avelino Solís commented that these results are positive and reflect that work is in the right direction because the beneficiaries identify PrevenIMSS. However, she indicated that it should be continued and strengthen this awareness of self-care and detection in disease prevention.
“What we need is for them to attend in a more specific way, because we come from two very difficult years and today more than ever it is important to carry out timely detections, emphasizing the prevention and detection of diseases, these diseases that for all the world seem to be very everyday but over time they create chronic diseases, cancers that hurt society a lot”.
disease prevention
He said that an innovative action that was carried out last year at the Institute was to strengthen preventive actions through preventIMSS in hospitals for those women and older adults who for some reason cannot go to their Family Medicine Unit (UMF) but have to go to the hospital, where they can find a module, perform preventive care with health personnel.
“Come, take your National Health Card and ask any hospital staff, surely they will guide you to reach this module with the Nursing staff.”
Roxana Katya Avelino maintained that The IMSS has been concerned to create strategies and make a new direction in search of older adult women to prevent diseases. For this, there are different educational and health promotion programs where the Nursing, Nutrition, and Social Work personnel know and are aware of the different programs that include PrevenIMSS to promote education on chronic diseases.
He added that women are a fundamental part of families and promote their self-care it means contributing to a healthier society, “becomes an example in the nucleus of your family with healthy habits, with fewer risks and of course those who live at home also acquire these same habits”.
The Epidemiology specialist stressed that the Institute’s commitment to women’s health is to continue with the institutional mission and vision for all workers and their families, which translates into an increase in population coverage with a social meaning.
“We serve Mexican beneficiaries according to their age, where we identify risk factors, early detection and diagnosis of diseases, vaccine application, prenatal and postpartum surveillance, sexual health information, family planning, and nutritional status evaluation.”
He explained that as a whole all these actions cover the health of women in their programs in the National Health Cards, in girls and boys from 0 to 9 years old, in adolescents from 10 to 19 years old, of women aged 20 to 59 years and, in the older adult who is 60 years and over.
