One of the consequences of the pandemic has been the acceleration of digitization. More and more jobs and activities can be done remotely, such as medical consultations. The same happens with the procedures because it is no longer mandatory to go to an office in person. The clearest example can be seen with the operating notices that all health establishments require in order to function properly.
In that sense, the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) published a bulletin in which it reported that there are already just over 49 thousand 600 notices of operation of health supplies establishments on paper that can now be modified online.
Because it is important?
This is one of the most frequent procedures before the regulatory authority, since establishments such as pharmacies or distributors must report every time there are changes in the person in charge of healthcare, hours or fiscal address. Before, this required a face-to-face appointment at the Cofepris headquarters, a process that could take weeks.
With the consolidation of the Digipris platform, these procedures are now carried out self-managed, with digital submission and automatic resolution. This reduces the wait time for modifications from weeks to minutes with service available 24 hours a day.
These modifications are available, in this first stage, for medical device factories, storage and/or distribution warehouses, allopathic and homeopathic pharmacies and retail stores of medical devices or herbal remedies, among others.
This new capacity represents the most significant achievement for Cofepris’ digital platform, which has been implemented in five stages since last October. The almost 50,000 establishments that benefit immediately from this change must only have their current notice, which they can register on the Digipris platform available at this link.
Digitization advances in Mexico
It had previously been announced that the operating notices, the first step to carry out activities regulated by Cofepris, of environmental health establishments and health supply establishments can now be made through the internet.
In the next expansion of the platform, users will be able to generate notices of operation of products and services such as cosmetics, food and tattoos via Digipris.
The digital procedures are already available at this link where in the coming months users will be able to carry out more than 30 types of self-management and electronic procedures for medicines and medical devices. This expands the digital alternatives for health regulation and complements the actions of Cofepris to protect people’s health.
