Festival season hasn’t returned as fans have longed for, and ever since Travis Scott’s Astroworld tragedy last November, the format hasn’t seemed to get off the ground. If the one in Houston claimed the lives of 10 people and more than 300 were injured, many attendees feared that something like this would happen during the first weekend of Primavera Sound. Luckily the organization reacted in time to the complaints but the disaster has returned to take over another enclosure without there being essentials to survive in a festival that they serve.
The Capital Fest took place last Saturday June 11 in Talavera de la Reina, in the heat wave and no shaded areas, only two working fountains, delays, and endless queues. This has been publicly denounced on networks and in the media by his assistants. Such has been the situation that the City Council of Talavera de la Reina has asked the organization for explanations.
13,000 attendees, the biggest stage in Spain (with 50 meters long, a height of 20 meters and 250 square meters of screens) and 18 hours of music are the data with which the second edition of the Capital Fest was expected to be remembered in the parking area of Talavera Ferial. However, it will go down in history for tweets like those of @mariacarrobles:
“Those who were already inside told those of us who arrived that we should think about it before entering. No shade, no cold water, no fountain or jets“, he published next to a photo of the red cross attending to someone on the ground. “This was the first image we had of the #CapitalFest and it was still 4:00 p.m.,” he added.
And the sun was a problem. This was the first image we had of the #CapitalFest and it was still 4:00 p.m.

The consistory has already requested a report from the Red Cross that includes the different actions that took place during the day to know those attentions that were caused by high temperatures. Meanwhile, another assistant, who has recounted what she experienced on Saturday at the festival before the cameras of the Antena 3 program Public mirror, He has assured that he was not enough to attend to all the people who were suffering from heat strokes.
Ester Cuadrado has assured that there were a total of fifteen fountains on the premises, but only two were working. The rest “a trickle of brown water came out”. In addition, he has pointed out that the organizers promised large shaded areas but, in reality, they only put up a tent in which “barely 200 people entered”. In his testimony, he has also questioned whether the capacity measures stipulated by law were complied with.
What is happening at the Capital Fest in Talavera today is a shame. The Red Cross is not enough to get people with heat stroke out of this wasteland. pic.twitter.com/YJGnKHFuBE

The situation ended up causing long queues to get drinks and delays in the start of the concerts. National indie names such as Izal, Lori Meyers, Miss Caffeina, Carlos Sadness, Varry Brava or La Casa Azul, among others, passed through its stage. “We have not been able to consume anything because of the rows that were in the bars, only 20 waiters for 13,000 people”, denounced another attendee.
The festival, which began at 12 noon, began to get out of control in the central hours of the day, and the hottest. The firefighters had to intervene preparing an arch with water in the area of the toilets so that people could get wet and they even refreshed the attendees with hoses.
