The director of the Aston Martin team receives the signing of Fernando Alonso with enthusiasm, but also being aware that results will be required of him. This is what he expects from the new star of him in 2023.
Whenever Fernando Alonso is signed by a Formula 1 team, whatever it may be, the members of said formation receive the news with great enthusiasm, but they also begin to feel the pressure of having to be up to the most demanding pilot Of the grill.
This will be no different Aston-Martinthe team in which the two-time world champion will play from 2023, when the recently signed contract with the Silverstone-based team becomes effective.
Its manager is mike krack, a motor competition classic that has arrived this year to guide the official team of a brand as iconic as Aston Martin to the top. And the truth is that it won’t be easy, because at the moment they are penultimate in the constructors’ championship.

Alonso brings enthusiasm and shows ambition
The first thing that Mike Krack highlights when asked about the signing of Fernando Alonso is that the Spanish driver “He has that killer instinct. Whatever happens, you know that Fernando will always give his all: he always pushes 100%, always gets the most out of the car and the team. His running form is exceptional, a formidable combination of confidence, instinct and intelligence.”
“The signing of Fernando is a clear statement of our intentions at Aston Martin F1. We are not on the grid to make numbers. We are here to win»then affirms the Luxembourgish engineer.
And it is that, although the results are now very disappointing, Mike Krack remembers that the objective of the team owned by Lawrence Stroll is to win. “We are on a journey to the front of the grid and Fernando’s decision to join us on this trip – to have a driver of his caliber you have to believe in the Aston Martin F1 project – is a great complement to our team and the work we are doing.”
“It will demand a lot from us, but that is what is expected of a multiple world champion. Fernando will be a driving force as we move forward together And, like everyone on the team, I’m looking forward to working with him,” reiterates Krack.
Teamwork, but also the need for results
For Aston Martin to meet its objectives and be at the same level as Fernando Alonso in terms of commitment and competitiveness, there must be a first-rate technical and human infrastructure.
Aston Martin already launched an ambitious project months ago that includes a new factory and a state-of-the-art wind tunnel, but what really makes the difference is the human factor.
“The teamwork at Aston Martin F1 is extraordinary.. Everybody helps each other, everybody works together and they do their best to achieve our goal: to get to the first position on the grid”, says Mike Krack.
“It’s an incredibly positive and constructive environment to work in and now we have to channel this into making a faster car. We must focus on performance, on improving the car, because we already have all the necessary ingredients to succeed.”he insists.
“Reliability, for example, has been one of our strengths: our car has completed the second most laps this season and that says a lot about the quality of our work and our processes: we can deliver a reliable car under pressure.” says the Luxembourger.
“But the car wasn’t fast enough when we started the season. We have tried to catch up, but our competitors are not standing still either. This has been our biggest challenge in 2022”, admits Mike Krack. And that is, without a doubt, the most difficult hurdle to overcome.
