Just a few days ago, from SomosXbox we brought you the first impressions of Psychonauts 2, the new title of Double Fine has positioned itself to be one of the candidates for the GOTY of this year 2021. Even without having been released, the sequel to Psychonauts is leaving us all speechless and wanting to enjoy it next August 25 on both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC. We remind you that it will also come to PlayStation, but Psychonauts 2 will feature HDR and other next-gen features on Xbox Series and not on PS5.
We should all know that the next-gen version of Psychonauts 2 is exclusive to Xbox since Double Fine, before being bought by Microsoft, promised that their game would come out on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. But now, with Double Fine being just another Xbox Games Studios studio, it stands to reason that the next-gen version of Psychonauts 2 is an Xbox exclusive. In addition, Microsoft has respected the contracts before the acquisition, so Psychonauts 2 will be released on the other platforms. But let’s not forget that Microsoft’s purchase of Double Fine has made Psychonauts 2 better and bigger, as confirmed in a new interview by senior designer Lauren Scott, via Axios.
Money is time. The overtime meant that Psychonauts 2 got some entirely new features, which the team didn’t initially plan on, including the ability to build the game’s big “boss” enemies. We definitely get a little room to breathe and give things a little more love, making them better and bigger.
This sequel will give us a closer look at Psychonauts Headquarters as Raz and his team are on a mission to save Truman Psychonaut, the boss. Something is happening with the organization and trouble seems to be approaching.
