Windows 10 is one of the most important operating systems of today and the one that has received the most updates from Microsoft. That’s why we will tell you how you can update your device to have this operating system.
Windows 10 could be updated for a while completely free of charge, but that promotion ended in 2016. However, either because it suits everyone to have Windows 10 or because they are simply good Samaritans, the free update continues to be available.
Easier than you think
You can take advantage of this if you have Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 very easily. We will tell you how to do it: click on the following link and follow the steps below.
Before you begin, remember that you must first make sure of the following :
- Internet connection (fee set by the Internet provider).
- Enough storage space available to save the download to a computer, USB device or external drive.
- An empty USB flash drive with at least 5 GB of space or an empty DVD (and a DVD burner) if you want to create a disc. We recommend that you use an empty USB drive or an empty DVD because any content on it will be deleted.
- -When you burn a DVD from an ISO file, if you are told that the disk image file is too large, you will have to use a double-layer DVD (DL) disc.
The latter to save the installation and startup files of Windows 10.
Other important things
But more important than all of the above, you should know if your processor is 32-bit or 64-bit. You can see this in “System Type” which is Control Panel> System or, failing that, PC Information> PC Configuration.
Knowing what your processor is, you should download the version that matches your device, that is, 32 bits for 32 bits.
Now, when you have the installation file you must open it and follow the instructions, remember to save it to a USB stick. Once you follow the instructions, your device will restart and the update will begin. Keep in mind that you can lose all your files in this process, so it is important that you make a backup on some external memory.
And that’s it, simple enough right?
