Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard has more than one person worried that Call of Duty games will become an Xbox exclusive. Although this remains to be seen once the acquisition is completed, the president of Microsoft assures that this will not happen, and even intends to carry Call of Duty to the Nintendo Switch.
In a recent interview with CNBC, Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, pointed out that would love to bring Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard franchises to the Nintendo Switch once possible. This was what he commented:
“One of the things that is very clear to us as we move forward with the regulatory review of this acquisition is that great titles like Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty will continue to be available on PlayStation.
we would like to bring [Call of Duty] to Nintendo devices. We would like to bring the other popular titles that Activision Blizzard has and make sure they continue to be available on PlayStation. [y] that are available on Nintendo.
It is important to mention that the Switch does have several Activision Blizzard games, such as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Y Diablo II: Resurrected. However, the last Call of Duty title we saw on a Nintendo console was Ghost in 2013. Although at the moment this is just a wish on Smith’s part, nothing rules out the possibility that Infinity Ward’s next jobor some of the studios in charge of this series, come to the hybrid console.
On related topics, this is the first teaser for the next Call of Duty. Similarly, Microsoft reiterates that this series will continue to appear on PlayStation consoles.
Editor’s note:
While it would be interesting to see new Call of Duty games on Switch, Smith is most likely referring primarily to war zone. Considering that apex legends Y Fortnite are already available on this platform, it would not be surprising if the third great battle royale of the moment also reaches this console in the future.
