It’s no secret that Sony and Microsoft have faced serious distribution problems over the past year. For months, getting a PS5 or Xbox Series X was impossible, or you had to shell out huge amounts of money to get your hands on one of these pieces of hardware. Fortunately, this has been corrected little by little, with the Xbox Series X|S stocking shelves quickly and efficiently, something that allowed them to exceed the sales of their competitors during the first quarter of 2022.
As part of the recent financial report of Microsoft, Satya Nadella, CEO of this company, mentioned that the Xbox Series X|S managed to outsell the PS5 in multiple regions around the world. This was what he commented:
“Our ambition is to empower gamers to play when, how and where they want. With our Xbox Series S and X consoles, we have gained share globally for two consecutive quarters and are the market leader this quarter among next-gen consoles in the US, Canada, UK and Western Europe.”
While the PS4 and Xbox One generation was dictated by the exclusives each console had, the contest between the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S is being decided by the accessibility and distribution of each platform. Although at the moment there are no official numbers, Nadella’s statements indicate that the Series X | S is on a very good path.
On related topics, Xbox Cloud Gaming already has more than 10 million users. Similarly, the Xbox Series X | S broke sales records in the first three months of the year.
Editor’s Note:
It’s good to see that Xbox is on a great path, and this generation could very well be the most successful for the company. However, there is still a lack of exclusive games that, although this can be remedied in the future, at the moment it is a problem for more than one player.
