Within the framework of the special event to showcase the company’s upcoming projects, Microsoft announced the new version of Bing with ChatGPT. As it became known after the leak a few days ago, the search engine will be powered by OpenAI artificial intelligence. The integration of AI into the software is the result of a multimillion-dollar annual investment made by the Redmond giant.
Known as the “new Bing”, the search engine comes bundled with an updated version of Edge, also powered by artificial intelligence. According to Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, search hasn’t changed much in the last 20 years, so the integration of AI will be a paradigm shift. The partnership with OpenAI will provide the most recent version of the model that drives ChatGPT.
Bing with ChatGPT integrates a chat feature where users can ask questions. Microsoft is committed to the use of natural language, which leaves behind the use of symbols, keys or tricks to enhance the search. According to Nadella, about half of the results currently returned by search engines do not include the answers that people require.
The user experience It is very similar to what we see in ChatGPT. During the event, Microsoft made multiple demonstrations of its operation. When asking “What is the best 65-inch television for gaming?”, a list is offered with the names of the models and links to the sources from which the information is obtained.
In a second demo, the user asks Bing for an itinerary for a five-day vacation in Mexico. The search engine makes a detailed summary of each day with advice on the places you should visit. According to Microsoft, it will no longer be necessary to search for “Tips for traveling in Mexico”, since only just ask the chatbot to do the task for you.

Microsoft defines the new browser as a copilot. In practical terms, it would be like a personal assistant powered by artificial intelligence that would help with your homework. Bing can make lists of products to buy at the supermarket or even write a meal plan for a family that only includes vegetarian options.
Unlike ChatGPT, the browser includes a list of important links in the footer. bing too is capable of translating content into more than 100 different languages. The results can be translated and shared with people in other countries. Although Microsoft and OpenAI did not use the word GPT-4the software is powered by this version, customized for searches.
It takes key learnings and advancements from ChatGPT and GPT-3.5, and is even faster, more accurate, and more capable.

The new experience will be available on both Bing.com and on an Edge browser sidebar. The latter will integrate an icon with a chat bubble design that will open on the page where you are. An important issue is that Microsoft will not forget about traditional search, so if you don’t want to use the chat system you can access the usual bar. Of course, the results will be powered by artificial intelligence and will offer greater context in a dedicated block.
The new Bing with ChatGPT will be available from today in a limited version for desktop. Users can access the web bing.com/new and register to access it, while the rest will have to wait a few weeks.
