The Minister President of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Arturo Zaldivarsaid this Monday that since always Mexico It has been a deeply racist country, but it refuses to acknowledge this reality.
He pointed out that since the time of the conquest, the colony and the entire period of independence, “Mexico has continued to live, grow, develop with a racism that pretends to be imperceptible, that tries to be denied, but whose reality is more alive every day. , powerful and that shouts at us so that we turn to see it”.
During the presentation of the protocol to judge with an intercultural perspective: indigenous peoples, peoples and communities, Zaldívar expressed: “Mexico is a racist and classist country that refuses to recognize that reality.”

Zaldívar pointed out that “judges do not judge in a crystal sphere, nor do we judge in a chemically pure world, we judge in an unequal, unjust, violent country, which has historically taken advantage of indigenous groups and communities.”

The protocol presented this Monday aims to provide judges with tools to better judge the intercultural phenomenon, based on constitutional and international commitments, the Constitution, international human rights, the criteria of the Inter-American Court and other international organizations and the SCJN.
