Users will be able to upload 3D models of their products to Facebook and Instagram and easily turn them into ads.
New technologies continue to gain ground around the world. That is why Meta recently announced that it will make it easier to post 3D ads on its social networks Facebook and Instagram through a new partnership with an e-commerce technology company.
According to data from Statista, in February 2022, Meta had a market capitalization of more than 594 billion US dollars, making it the third largest Internet company in the United States, behind Alphabet and Amazon.com.
Likewise, the statistics platform details that Meta’s annual revenue was 117.9 billion US dollars for fiscal year 2021, compared to 85.9 billion in 2020. The vast majority of Meta’s revenue is generated by its Family of Applications (FoA ), which represented US$115.6 billion in 2021, the remaining US$2.27 billion generated by Reality Labs. Overall, more than 97 percent of Meta’s revenues are from advertising.
Posting 3D ads on Facebook and Instagram
Mark Zuckerberg’s company announced that it will facilitate the publication of 3D ads on Facebook and Instagram through a new partnership with an e-commerce technology company.
Meta highlighted that these new strategies are thanks to the integration with Vntana, where users can upload 3D models of their products on Facebook and Instagram and easily convert them into ads.
In this way, users of the social network will be able to add another layer of virtuality to these platforms.
For his part, Ashley Crowder, the CEO of the company, said that the move is one more step towards advertising in the metaverse, referring to “the futuristic idea of a collection of virtual worlds that can be accessed through different devices, such as virtual or augmented reality glasses”.
Let us remember that Zuckerberg’s company has said several times that it is committed to contributing to the construction of the metaverse, although it has mentioned that it could take up to a decade to come true.
“The metaverse is basically a space Internet,” said Crowder. “It’s a whole world of possibilities that starts with having the right 3D models of your products.”
In that same order, Chris Barbour, director of augmented reality associations of the Reality Labs unit of Meta, added that “in a way, this offers an idea of what can be expected from future devices such as augmented reality glasses”.
Users can now use this new integration to easily upload and convert files into ads without requiring any technical knowledge of working with 3D images, Crowder said.
With this new integration, there are already several companies that have already started to make developments, both software and hardware, to bet on the metaverse that will be part of the social, work and entertainment environment.
