Instagram and Facebook users who have not yet delved into the world of cryptocurrencies will soon be able to learn about this market and earn money. And it is that the social network giant Meta, parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, would be developing a platform to bring the creation and market of non-fungible tokens (NFT) to Insta and Face users, as revealed by this Thursday Financial Times.
According to the publication, the project is still in its early stages and the format could undergo changes. But the idea would be to create a streamlined way for people to convert photos, graphics, music, memes and other types of content into crypto assets, so they can be traded on the same platform. Which would popularize the NFT market.
Addressing the issue also this Thursday, InfoMoney recalled that in December 2021 the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, revealed that the company was already working intensively with NFTs to expand public access to this type of crypto assets. And he pointed out that Mark Zuckerberg himself cited NFTs in a recent speech about the metaverse, whose success would be linked to “ownership of digital assets.”
There are still no details on what an eventual interface between the platform and the Instagram and Facebook accounts would look like. However, it will almost certainly use the tech giant’s digital wallet, Novi. So much so that in December of last year they began testing to make payments through whatsapp.
