Mattel will once again produce toys based on Walt Disney princesses and the hit Frozen franchise. It is that the brand has recovered the rights that it lost five years ago at the hands of its rival, Hasbro.
The news was published this Wednesday, January 26 by the The Wall Street Journal and it already covers the specialized media in the toy sector.
With Mattel’s new contract with Disney, Cinderella, Snow White and Elsa from “Frozen” will “get together” again in the same factory with the Barbie line.
Mattel had lost the franchises after a financial setback that sent the company into a dark period in which it had four CEOs and millions in losses.
But many things have changed since those years.
The last CEO of Mattel, Ynon Kreizwho joined the company in 2018, stabilized operations with more than $1 billion in cost cuts, refreshed leadership, revived key brands like Barbie.
He also rebuilt relationships with Hollywood studios.
From the day Mattel lost the rights to Disney, executives promised to get them back. And they did.
