The presentation of the new MC20 Cielo is just around the corner. If you don’t want to miss any details about this model, I advise you to mark the next one on the calendar. Wednesday, May 25, 2022. It is the day chosen by Maserati to reveal the model on which it has been working in recent times and whose development process we have had the opportunity to get closer to thanks to our spy photographers.
Maserati MC20 Cielo, the new 100% “Made in Italy” convertible
The development of the new MC20 convertible has taken place at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena (Italy). Manufacturing will also take place on Italian territory. More specifically in the historic production center of Viale Ciro Menotti. The model with coupé body is already manufactured there. At a technical level there will be no surprises since the current MC20 has been the base used by Maserati to give life to the convertible variant.
The spy photos, despite all the camouflage, do not hint at radical changes in design. However, on the roof the “humps” related to the convertible roof system can be glimpsed. As it is a supercar, the weight factor is decisive. That is why one of the challenges that the company has faced has been to implement this convertible system without the weight being affected excessively.
The “heart” of the new MC20 Cielo is the new Nettuno engine. a powerful 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine with MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion) technology that develops a power of 630 hp and 730 Nm of maximum torque. This block is associated with an eight-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The transmission sends the power generated by the engine to the rear axle.
The features of the new Maserati MC20 Cielo
As far as benefits are concerned, there should be no big changes. They will be slightly worse compared to the coupe model. Recall that the MC20 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 325 km/h. The sale price will exceed the €250,000 barrier.
