We live in a world where leaks and copyrights travel a turbulent path due to the presence of the internet and social networks. The same world where Marvel blockbusters are always the victims of leaks on discussion sites like Reddit. The last bad drink happened with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaand Kevin Feige’s house does not intend to sit idly by.
As reported Variety, Marvel Studios filed an application on Friday, March 10, in a California federal district court, with a direct subpoena to Reddit. In it, the website is requested to identify those responsible for having leaked a script for the third installment of ant man a month before the film’s premiere.
The incident occurred on January 20 of this year and the film reached theaters until February 17 of this year. Marvel wants Reddit to reveal the details of the user identified as “u/MSSmods,” as well as anyone else who was responsible for the disclosure and distribution of the classified content. The application filed by the studio runs in accordance with the Copyright Law of the United States.
The supposed material was nothing other than the dialogues of the film. This is a 63-page transcript of all the dialogue in the film, not the actual script as such. It is inferred that the content was intended to become support material for the creation of subtitles.
Reddit has yet to reveal whether it will heed Marvel’s and the court’s request. Reddit is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. We have rigorous processes in place to review legal requests and challenge them where appropriate,” a spokesperson for the website commented.
Marvel Studios also filed another similar request, but this time against Google. And it is that the same information leaked from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniawas shared in the form of a document through Google Docs.
Neither Google nor Marvel gave official statements, or foot to more conversation on the subject. The studio is constantly the victim of leaks on social media. What results in the concern of the executives, who know that the cinematographic works of the MCU, depend to a great extent on the surprise factor.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania It hit Mexican theaters on February 16. Overall the film’s reception has not been particularly warm. Both the specialized critics and the fans of the franchise found in the new adventure of Ant-Man a minor product.
