The 2022-23 season of the Liverpool it’s not being the best. With the premier league already lost (it is 21 points behind leaders Arsenal), the Anfield Road team must now focus on the Champions, a tournament that, if won, would save the campaign. Along these lines, the English team is getting ready to face Real Madrid, a rival against which they will recover three fundamental players from their squad in the coming days: Diogo Jota could have minutes this Monday against Everton, while Virgil Van Dijk and Roberto Firmino they will arrive in time for the round of 16 tie.
And it is that Jürgen Klopp confirmed this Friday at a press conference that Jota has already returned to training and that he could have minutes in the Merseyside derby against Everton, a game that will be played this Monday the 13th at Anfield Road, starting at 3 in the afternoon (Peruvian time).
Van Dijk, Firmino and Arthur Melo have also returned to work with the group, but it is “unlikely” that they are on the bench against the classic rival, so their objective is to be ready for the duel against Real Madrid on the 21st, being able to take minutes against Newcastle United next weekend.
“Diogo is the closest to returning, because he has already trained for two days”, Klopp said about the Portuguese, who has been out since before the World Cup. “Bobby (Firmino), we have to see how he deals with the intensity of the training, Arthur the same and Virgil I think he needs a little more”added the German coach.

The match between Liverpool and Real Madrid, for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16, will take place on Tuesday, February 21 at the Anfield Road stadium. The duel will start at 3 in the afternoon (Peruvian time) and in Latin America it will be broadcast on ESPN Deportes, STAR Plus and HBO Max (Mexico).
The meeting between Real Madrid and Liverpool has occurred on several occasions. However, the most recent match between the two teams took place just a few months ago in the 2021-22 Champions League final, which was played in Paris with a 1-0 victory for the ‘merengues’.
Of course, the record between the Spanish and English is favorable for those at the Bernabéu, with a total of five wins for the whites, one draw and three defeats, in nine games played. In addition, Ancelotti’s men have not lost any definition against Klopp’s men, winning two Champions League finals and one quarterfinal crossing in the last five editions.
