Following in Disney’s footsteps, DreamWorks is also developing a Live-Action adaptation of one of its animated sagas most successful, ‘How to train your dragon’.
The film, which is scheduled to be released in 2025, is in its pre-production phase, specifically in the casting process and the protagonists of the story have already been selected.
These are the young actors, Mason Thames and Nico Parker, who will play Hiccup and Astrid, respectively in this new adaptation, says the specialized American media, Variety.
Thames most recently starred in Universal’s ‘The Black Phone,’ where she shared credit with Ethan Hawke. While Parker appeared in the hit series “The Last Of Us.”

The project will be directed by Dean DeBlois, who has an authorized voice on the project, after helming the animated trilogy for DreamWorks.
DeBlois’ live-action feature film debut will feature a script he wrote and a production by Marc Platt alongside Adam Siegel, president of Marc Platt Productions.
Vice President of Production Development Lexi Barta will oversee the film on behalf of Universal.
The trilogy of films, produced by DreamWorks Animation, was extremely successful upon its release in 2010, even earning Oscar nominations for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Soundtrack.
“How to Train Your Dragon” is a trilogy of animated adventure films that follows the story of Hiccup, a young Viking who defies the traditions of his people by befriending an injured dragon named Toothless. Together, they will learn to overcome their differences and fight evil forces to protect their homes.
The DreamWorks trilogy grossed a total of $1.642 billion from 2010 to 2019.
