As of the following year, the Fan ID initiative will be launched, presented by Liga MX on November 17, and which has been in operation since that date. It is a registration platform designed to make the stay of fans at football matches more secure. Its implementation is estimated for the following Opening Tournament 2023.
It is planned to implement Fan ID in stages, first to raise awareness and then a registration stage. The use of the platform will be mandatory to be able to enter all the matches of the Expansión and Femenil leagues, in which it will be used later. Fan ID will also be requested to enter all the stadiums that are part of the Liga BBVA MX. It is presumed that the platform will have a high level of user data protection.
What is the Fan ID platform and how will it work?
The objective of Fan ID is to have a visual record of the attendees, which will be obtained through a unique and personal code. The ID can be obtained by entering from a smartphone on the website www.incode.id. A valid official identification such as the INE, driver’s license and passport will be required.
Initially, this platform was designed exclusively for adults, but as its use will most likely also be extended to minors, to register them they will be asked for the credential of an educational institution incorporated into the Ministry of Public Education, SEP, as they are the only ones identifications considered valid for minors.
Next, the mobile number of the users will be requested as well as a photograph of their faces or selfie. Once the account has been registered and the user identification has been registered, the platform will issue a QR code that will be requested to enter the stadium. This step will only be done once and will not be subject to the purchase of a ticket to enter a soccer match.
The technological part of the Fan ID system is in charge of Incode Technologies, a “Mexican unicorn” founded by the Mexican Ricardo Amper. Its technology is based on the use of artificial intelligence, AI, certified globally. The tool was ruled on November 6 by the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data, INAI.
