For many gamers, Half-Life 2 is one of the most iconic titles of the early 2000s. With unique gameplay, an engaging story, and a famous rod-wielding protagonist, Half-Life 2 fans were left with eager for a sequel, especially after seeing the ending of Half-Life 2: Episode 2.
After more than 15 years since the release of Half-Life 2, fans have given up on the possibility of a Half-Life 3, although they were finally granted a prequel in the form of a virtual reality title, Half-Life: Alyx.
Half-Life: Alyx Taking place five years before the events of Half-Life 2, players step into the shoes of Alyx Vance in an attempt to wrest a superweapon from the alien threat. The VR game received praise from fans and critics alike, though many were initially irritated that they couldn’t play the game without a VR headset. However, this didn’t stop Half-Life fans from loving the game and wanting to expand on the story of Half-Life: Alyx through mods.
YouTuber CoreyLaddo recently revealed a new trailer for his Half-Life: Alyx “Levitation” mod. Unlike other Half-Life: Alyx mods that change the game mechanics, “Levitation” is primarily focused on creating a new story within the Half-Life universe. The trailer shows plenty of action narrated by the G-Man, one of Half-Life’s most famous and mysterious characters.
The trailer also shows off some impressive new environments for Half-Life: Alyx, though it doesn’t seem like it’s going to give players any new enemies to fight. Things like new enemy models could come later, as the “Levitation” mod is planned for a Q3 2022 release. Like most mods, this adaptation of Half-Life: Alyx will be free for all. owners of the game, which will provide them with an additional 4-5 hours of content.
