In Argentina, the company TravelX announced the integration with Lemon Cash, a virtual wallet that allows you to combine Argentine pesos with crypto and thus be able to purchase tokenized air tickets through the Travel.XYZ platform. This was announced from Lemon for Cointelegraph en Español through a statement.
From October 17 to 31, Lemon and TravelX will open different temporary sales windows, in which users will be able to access a 50% return in bitcoins of the value of the NFTicket in their Lemon wallet in a period of 5 business days.. Users will be able to access up to 2 tickets per person with a 50% refund and will receive a refund cap of 100 USD coins in bitcoin per ticket.
Marcelo Cavazzoli, CEO and Co-Founder of Lemon announced: “This integration opens the doors to more than a million and a half users that we have in the app to the travel sector on Web3 with the possibility of buying, selling or even auctioning their air tickets within the TravelX platform.”.
Users will be able to add funds to their Lemon account directly on the TravelX platform in order to pay for NFTickets (air tickets) with the USD coin crypto assets that are available in the app and access the platform’s features.
Also, users will be able to change the name of passengers for free up to 72 hours before the flightbook first (with a duration of up to 24 hours in the reservation) and pay later (as long as it is within the temporary window, the 50% refund will apply), give away or assign the ticket, pay for it with cryptocurrencies, sell it at a fixed price or sell it by offering it at auction.
Juan Pablo Lafosse, CEO and Co-Founder of TravelX commented: “For three weeks we have felt great interest from the crypto and non-crypto community. The possibility of managing an air ticket as the user wishes, with absolute freedom, is something that many people have been waiting for. We are working to continue expanding its reach and this alliance with Lemon Cash allows us to reach more than one and a half million app users”.
At the moment, the user will only be able to buy tickets to any destination offered by the airline “Flybondi”, who were some of the pioneers in tokenizing their inventory and offering it as NFTickets.. These destinations include most of the most popular cities in Argentina, as well as Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay.
It’s the “tokenization” of an air ticket via blockchain technology. The tokenization of airline tickets, evolved into NFTickets, inaugurates a new stage where the travel industry and Web3 could come together to provide a much more flexible experience for travelers. With an NFTicket, an air ticket could be transferred, resold or auctioned, generating at the same time new sources of income and a strong reduction in transaction costs for airlines.
In this first stage, Flybondi NFTickets are already available through the Travel.Xyz platform and using the Lemon Cash virtual wallet. In the coming months, more airlines and other forms of payment, such as credit cards issued by banks, could be added.
How could you buy your first NFTicket?
- You register on the travelX platform
- You add funds to the TravelX wallet in USD coin from Lemon.
- Looking for date and destination.
- Reserve and choose whether to complete the name now or later.
- You pay with stablecoin USDC and you already access the NFTicket.
