During this latest Ebola outbreak, more than 140 confirmed Ebola cases accumulated in Uganda.
According to what was reported by the official of the Ministry of Health, more than 80 cases of recovery from Ebola infection were reported.
Uganda has discharged its last known Ebola-infected patient from hospital, senior health official Diana Atwine said on Friday, raising hopes that an outbreak that has killed at least 56 people could be coming to an end.
The authorities confirmed the Ebola outbreak in Uganda for the first time in September where they mentioned that it was the Sudan strain, which kills between 40% and 60% of the people it infects, for which there is still no proven vaccine.
“Happy to announce that we have discharged the last Ebola patient… God has seen us through this epidemic,” wrote Diana Atwine, the senior official at the Ministry of Health, on Twitter.

He mentioned that doctors will continue to monitor people who have been in contact with infected patients until they have been free for 21 days.
Restrictions put in place to stop the spread of Ebola in Uganda
In addition, the government imposed travel restrictions, a nightly curfew, and the closure of places of worship and entertainment during the month of October to try to contain the Ebola outbreak in central Uganda, however, several cases appeared in the capital and the east of the country.
In late November, President Yoweri Museveni extended by 21 days the lockdown that had been imposed on two districts at the epicenter of the outbreak. The decision came days after Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng said there was a downward trend in the number of registered cases.
That said, the World Health Organization (WHO) says that a country must spend 42 days, twice the maximum incubation period, after the last confirmed case to be declared Ebola-free.
