The long-awaited third variant of the new Defender already has an assigned presentation date. The new Land Rover Defender 130 has already completed its testing journey and is ready to be unveiled, an off-road model with ample interior space for up to eight passengers, and the best off-road prowess.
More than a year in testing and without knowing about this third variant for months, until now that the British brand has shown signs of life and confirmed the world presentation of the new Land Rover Defender 130. The manufacturer will complete the range of the modern SUV with the most spacious option in the entire category, with no less than three rows of seats and up to eight seats.
The third Defender is characterized by retaining the design of the five-door model, known as Defender 110. In fact, the manufacturer has kept the wheelbase of this version, but has very considerably increased the size of the overhang, where the third row of seats sits and the three extra places with a somewhat unusual distribution: «2+3+3». A perfectly striking feature from the outside, and the one that will identify this more spacious and almost top-of-the-range option.
The Land Rover Defender 130 will arrive at dealerships at the end of the year
There will be no more distinctive and differentiating elements, since both the front and the rear will feature the same design as the Defender 90 and Defender 110. The new Defender 130 has confirmed its presentation for next May 31, just over 10 days that separates us from this debut, and in which we will learn more about all its details. Land Rover puts land in the middle with its most direct competitors, with an extra seat in the third row that makes the difference with the rivals and that can tip the balance on the side of the British.
Land Rover has confirmed these extremes in its concise advance note of this model, although it has remarked that this version of the Defender will not mean a renunciation of the advanced equipment of the model, and of the brand, both in those related to connectivity and digitization as advanced chassis control or resistance and dynamic capacity off the asphalt and in more difficult conditions.
Conditions that the firm will also apply to the range of engines, so that the new Defender 130 will maintain the same mechanical structure as the previous two, with the blocks of in-line four and six cylinder gasoline and diesel with 48 Volt MHEV technologyplus the powerful V8 that produces a maximum power of 525 CV that will serve as the crown of the range, and the efficient plug-in hybrid. Land Rover has confirmed that it will open the order books immediately after the presentation, with deliveries expected by the end of the year.
