luxury car brand, Lamborghini, announced its entry into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by launching ‘Space Key’.
As is evident, a company like Lamborghini could not take its first step in a world like that of NFTs without doing it in a big way. Thus, the company’s collection incorporated a very special ingredient.
An NFT from outer space
According to Press releaseLamborghini is launching a collection of NFTs comprised of five works of art which can be accessed when you have one of the five “Space Keys”, or “Space Keys” in English. But what is special about it? Well, according to the company each of these physical keys are made from a material that has been to outer space.
Specifically the Space Keys are made from carbon fiber samples that Lamborghini sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part of an investigation.
To access the work of art, each key will have a printed QR code that will give you exclusive access to one of the NFTs.
“Innovation is part of Lamborghini’s DNA. As a leading company in the use of carbon fiber materials within the automotive industry, we pushed the limits two and a half years ago with our joint research project in space”, said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini.
Winkelmann added that “entering the metaverse now is further proof that Lamborghini is always sailing towards new horizons. The world of NFTs has come knocking at our door, and we are excited to get involved in this passionate and innovative community.“.
What other details are known?
The press release adds that the Lamborghini collection was made in cooperation with NFT PRO, an enterprise solution that has worked with companies such as Adidas and Sotheby’s to bring their NFT integration to market.
However, it is unknown what the five digital works will be like and other details about it. In fact, this project has been carried out in collaboration with an artist who has decided to remain anonymous for the time being.
One thing to note is that the five Space Keys will be auctioned off soon, but no further details were offered. Probably, this action is aimed at generating a topic of conversation within your community.
